Ive been slowly moving away from trillian in favor of newer shinier multi im chat clients, first gtalk (since they added other support) then Meebo, and now Digsby. ive been using it for a while now, assuming in a week or 2 i’d find something better. but i don’t think i will be anytime soon, so ive decided to write a review.
At first glance Digsby looks just like every other multi im client, with a few nice changes. first off the buddy list is far better than anything out there, ive got multi im names, and the same persons ICQ, Yahoo,Aim and aol. in most other programs you just deal wiht it, in this you can stack them all up into one contact with multiple oipeions asto which service to use to contact them. sounds minor but is very usefull, my list length was cut in half form the beginning.
And its not just a chat client, more of a social-email-chat-explosion. it can link up to your twitter, facebook, myspace, gmail, yahoo mail, aol mail, imap and pop. whenever there is a new event/poke/message/post itll alert you (if you choose). very usefull if your an internet whore like me.Your contact list, all the customizations, skinning, renaming ad all that jazz are stored on their servers, so all you hafto do is login and it pulls down all the relevant info, much like Meebo but this is way more intuitive.
ive decided im tired of typing about how awesome it is. just go download it. (linux + mac support coming soon)
