someone should create/post the text version of this, i know it exists, the proof is in the eye movements that suggest he is reading during the vid.

NEONDEMON is correct. Bring us evidence that an elephant is there than we would believe it. Same with religion. If you could empirically prove the existence of a divine being, then atheist would accept it. More to the point, why should anyone believe in something that others told you if they have no proof? All I see is those who are too weak to admit that they're not special and there is no afterlife. Sorry guys. Accept the obvious oblivion all mortals are doomed to and move on.

norsinnewyork
the burden of proof is not on the one who doubts the elephant. but the one who affirms it is there.

to Phil E. Drifter, and all who agreed with his post:
i do not understand your argument. you can prove something does not exist. it is called reductio ad absurdum. it means to prove there is an inherent contradiction in the something, and therefore it is logically impossible. Other than that, I am aware of no other means of proving the nonexistence of something, although i would be interested to hear of other mechanisms. This being said, i will admit according to the philisophical standards of proof (based on boolian algebra), it is very difficult to prove the non-existence of anything. so i will repeat my original statement, perhaps slightly clearer this time:

say there is a room with no windows. if i say "there is an elephant in that room", you can say prove it. if i say "there is no possible way there is an elephant in that room", you can say prove it. please answer why atheism is different (and please dont say because god is a ridiculous claim while an elephant is not, unless you wish to back up that statement)

Thank you for making that video. It was very well thought and presented. I hate that people out there are misinformed about the 'beliefs' of atheists. The belief is like you said 'if you can prove it to me than I will believe it.' I don't know and I wasn't there when the world was created. So until religion can come up with a more practical answer, I'll trust in the wisdom of science as it is allowed to evolve.

Sorry, you're wrong, norsinnewyork. Things that do not exist cannot be proven. There is nothing to prove and there is no way to prove them since they don't exist. Since you can only prove something exists, there is no burden of proof lying on the shoulders of the atheist, they have nothing to prove. It is up to the god-fearing religitards to prove god exists, which is impossible, because he(she/it) doesn't exist.

i have a problem with your burden of proof argument. If i make a positive claim about IPU (Invisible Pink unicorns exist), and you say "I have no idea, but until you can prove it, i will go about living as i always have" (a negative assertion) then the burden of proof is on me. In the same sense if you say "IPU's 100% do not exist" (another positive assertion), and I say I have no idea, the burden of proof is on you. if i say "IPU exists" and you say "IPU does not exist" we each have the burden of proof. the burden of proof is both on the theist and the atheist. the only person who avoids it is the agnostic...
